  • What is a CTDI?

    Do More With Your Dog!®, as the official sanctioning and organizing body for the sport of Dog Tricks, has established guidelines for instructor certification in order to ensure that standards of excellence are met when teaching the sport. Certified Trick Dog Instructors are certified to teach Trick Dog classes, and may use the acronym CTDI after their name to indicate they have demonstrated the knowledge and hands-on training techniques applicable to this sport.

  • How do I get certified?

    Application is open to anyone interested in promoting, teaching or training dog tricks. Take this course at your own pace. At the end will be an online exam. You will also be asked to submit several short videos demonstrating how you would teach a trick. Other criteria: In addition to submitting the online and video exams, you must also agree to abide by a Code of Conduct (detailed at the bottom of this page). Before becoming fully certified, applicant must earn an "Intermediate Trick Dog" title on his/her own dog. (You can order your CTDI pack before you have earned your ITD title.)

  • What can I do with a CTDI credential?

    A CTDI is licensed to evaluate and award student Trick Dog titles. Titles are recognized by AKC, CKC, and DKK. By evaluating titles, a CTDI earns credits which can be redeemed for free merchandise. A CTDI is also eligible to become a Stunt Dog Judge and a Spark Team Coach.

  • I am in another country. Can I do this program!

    Yes! We offer free shipping worldwide of the course material.

  • How long do I have to finish this course?

    You may have as long as you want to finish this course.

  • Does the exam have to be done all at one time, or can I do it in bits?

    You can do it in bits. If you don’t pass the multiple choice exam, the computer lets you keep retaking it until you pass.

  • What is on the essay exam?

    The essay is approximately 20 questions. We want to see that you are a thoughtful and positive trainer. Questions are things like “if you have a dog in your class that is not interested in the treats, what would you do?” Or, “my dog will roll over in one direction but not the other. What can you try?”

  • Are there additional costs or recertification fees?

    There are no other costs. Your certification is good for life. There is no re-certification fee.
